Job Title: Production Control Specialist (Control-M/EM)

Role Overview
As a Production Control Specialist, you will be responsible for scheduling, managing, and monitoring batch workloads across mainframe and distributed systems. This role involves ensuring smooth operation, proactively identifying and resolving job abends, and communicating effectively with support teams to maintain service level agreements.

Key Responsibilities

• Schedule jobs via Control-M/EM, including temporary and permanent modifications (75% effort).
• Manage, monitor, and analyze mainframe and distributed systems batch workload, resolving job abends and collaborating with programmers (25% effort).
• Schedule pre-defined jobs and manage/maintain calendars within Control-M/EM.
• Manage batch workload in a Production Control environment for both mainframe and distributed/client-server applications.
• Identify and fix common abends, alert support staff, escalate issues when SLAs may be jeopardized, and document all issues via ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow Incidents & Tasks).

Required Skills

• Efficient in using BMC Control-M for scheduling and managing batch jobs (5 years)
• Efficient in using BMC Enterprise Manager for scheduling and managing batch jobs (5 years)
• Managing batch workload on AJF for both mainframe and client server applications (5 years)
• Capacity to analyze alert messages and/or shout messages to determine severity, and follow escalation procedures when SLAs may be jeopardized (5 years)
• Proficient in using TSO/ISPF to analyze status and identify issues with batch jobs (5 years)
• Capability to recognize server problems by utilizing Nagios, IP Monitor, and Tivoli (5 years)
• Expertise in identifying abends and using JCL to fix those abends (2-5 years)
• Clear and effective verbal communication skills
• Clear and effective written communication skills for problem summation

Preferred Skills

• General Mainframe knowledge
• SDSF
• ServiceNow experience (including Incidents & Tasks)
• Expert ability to analyze and manage batch workload on AJF for both mainframe and client server applications using BMC Control-M and EM (2-5 years)
• Expert level in identifying and fixing common abends using JCL (2-5 years)
• Familiarity with similar job scheduling and monitoring tools

Additional Notes

• This position operates on a 2nd shift schedule (3:00 PM – 12:00 AM).
• Requires working every weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and some holidays on a rotational basis.
• Holidays worked will be paid at straight time and occur a few times per year.
